Torah Prep School of St. Louis is the largest Jewish Day School in the state of Missouri, providing Torah-based religious and secular education to over 315 students from preschool to 8th grade.  Our faculty is composed of some of the most sincere, dedicated and accomplished academic professionals and rebbeim anywhere.  The pursuit of excellence exhibited by our staff is largely what's behind the innovative and rigorous education that students receive at Torah Prep School.

Position Summary

To improve the educational experience of students, Teacher Assistants assist the instructional and administrative staff.  The Teacher Assistant will assist teachers with instruction of individual and small groups of students in the classroom, assist with student supervision during arrival, lunch, recess, and/or dismissal, and may be asked to substitute teach on days a teacher is absent.  Teacher Assistants perform a variety of classroom, general, and clerical duties related to assisting the school and classrooms.

Essential Duties

• Performs supportive instructional tasks under the direction of teachers and administrators

• Supervise classrooms when needed

• Monitor students during independent work activities and provides assistance as needed

• Provide tutorial assistance to students in one-to-one or small group settings under the direction of teachers and administrators

• Provides practice and reinforcement activities for students as follow-up to direct instruction provided by the classroom teacher

• Assists in the preparation of instructional materials

• Provides encouragement to students

• Assists in the supervision of students throughout the school day (e.g. supports teachers within the classroom, arrival, lunch, recess, movement throughout the building, dismissal)

• Assists teachers and principals with clerical duties as needed

• Substitute teach in general studies classrooms across campuses when the need arises

• Perform other duties as assigned  

Requirements of Applicants

• Previous experience working with children (teacher aid, building aid, or teacher experience preferred)

• Strong background in literacy (specifically guided reading and writer's workshop) and Science of Reading

• Ability to address the needs of all students and challenge each one to reach his/her potential

• Team player with strong communication skills

• Excellent classroom management skills

• Creative, dynamic and positive professionals

School Calendar

• Mid-August, 2026 to Late-June, 2027 (exact school calendar dates not finalized yet)

• Morning Part-Time Positions’ Hours

  • Mondays - Thursdays, 8:15am - 12:15pm

  • Fridays, 8:15am - 11:35am
    

• Afternoon Part-Time Positions’ Hours

  • Mondays - Thursdays, 12:30pm - 4:30pm

  • Fridays, 11:30am - 2:15pm
    

• Full-Time Positions’ Hours

  • Mondays - Thursdays, 8:15am - 4:15pm

  • Fridays, 8:15am - 2:15pm
